The Philippines can expect varying weather conditions across different regions today, May 28, 2026, according to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Southwesterly windflow and a tropical storm trough are influencing weather patterns, particularly in Visayas and Mindanao.

Regional Weather Forecast

Luzon

For most of Luzon, including Metro Manila, PAGASA forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers. These rainshowers are likely due to localized thunderstorms. Residents are advised to be prepared for possible flash floods or landslides during these isolated thunderstorms. Expect light to moderate winds from variable directions.

Visayas

The western sections of Visayas are experiencing the effects of the southwesterly windflow, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Residents in Negros and nearby areas should be vigilant for potential flash floods or landslides. The eastern sections of Visayas are expected to have light to moderate winds from the east.

Mindanao

Mindanao is experiencing a mix of weather conditions. The trough of a tropical storm outside PAR is affecting the eastern section of Mindanao, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides are a concern in these areas. Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and SOCCSKSARGEN will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the southwesterly windflow. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

PAGASA also provided information on wind and coastal water conditions across the country.

  • Western Luzon: Light to moderate winds from the southwest. Slight to moderate seas.
  • Eastern Sections of Visayas and Mindanao: Light to moderate winds. Slight to moderate seas.
  • Extreme Northern Luzon: Light to moderate winds. Slight to moderate seas.
  • Western Section of Southern Luzon and Palawan: Light to moderate winds from the southwest. Slight to moderate seas.

Safety Reminders

PAGASA reminds the public to take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rainfall. Avoid low-lying areas and riverbanks, as these are prone to flooding. Stay away from steep slopes, which are susceptible to landslides. During thunderstorms, seek shelter indoors and avoid contact with electrical appliances. Always keep informed about the latest weather updates and advisories from PAGASA.

PAGASA Monitoring

PAGASA continues to monitor weather conditions across the Philippines and will issue updates as necessary. The public is advised to stay informed and take appropriate actions to ensure their safety.
