The statue rises 67 meters, roughly as tall as a 30-story building, and stands on a lotus base 35 meters wide. Inside are 17 floors, and each floor holds 21 Buddha statues.
The legend of Bãi Bụt
Legend says that more than a century ago, a Buddha statue washed ashore on the beach below. Local fishermen built a shrine to it, and the beach became known as Bãi Bụt, the land of Buddha. Today the Lady Buddha still faces the sea, watching over the fishermen who work it.
BNNO Travel filmed the statue, the pagoda grounds and its tower during a visit to Da Nang.
Visiting
Construction of the pagoda began in 2004 and was completed in 2010. Entry is free, and the pagoda is about 10 kilometers from Da Nang's city center.
