The Philippines can expect a mix of weather conditions as a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and easterlies influence the archipelago, according to the latest forecast from PAGASA issued at 4:00 AM on May 6, 2026, valid until 4:00 AM tomorrow. The LPA was last observed 670 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. Easterlies, or winds blowing from the east, are also contributing to the overall weather pattern.

Regional Weather Forecast

Luzon

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are possible, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Residents are advised to monitor for updates and take precautions during severe thunderstorms, as these could lead to localized flooding.

Visayas

Eastern Samar and Southern Leyte should brace for cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. PAGASA warns that moderate to, at times, heavy rains could trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas. Residents in low-lying and mountainous regions are urged to be vigilant and prepared to evacuate if necessary.

Mindanao

Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Similar to the Visayas region, the potential for flash floods and landslides exists due to moderate to heavy rainfall. The LPA's proximity to Mindanao increases the risk of significant rainfall in these areas. Additionally, a Tropical Depression is located 2,395 km East of Northeastern Mindanao. While outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it is being monitored closely. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness up to 70 km/h, moving westward at 10 km/h.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

Across Northern Luzon, winds will be light to moderate, coming from the east to southeast. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

In the eastern section of Mindanao, light to moderate winds will blow from the northeast to north. Coastal waters will also be slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.6 and 2.1 meters.

For the rest of the Philippines, light to moderate winds are expected from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Temperature and Humidity

Yesterday's temperature extremes recorded at the PAGASA Weather Station in Quezon City were a maximum of 33.5°C at 2:00 PM and a minimum of 24.1°C at 6:00 AM. The relative humidity ranged from a maximum of 76% to a minimum of 49%.

Safety Precautions

PAGASA advises the public to take necessary precautions in areas expecting rainfall. This includes:

  • Monitoring weather updates from PAGASA.
  • Avoiding low-lying areas and riverbanks during heavy rainfall.
  • Being prepared for possible evacuation in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
  • Securing belongings and livestock.
  • Postponing non-essential travel to areas with heavy rainfall.

For mariners, it is advised to check the latest sea condition updates before setting sail and to avoid navigating during severe weather.

Tidal Information (Manila Bay)

Today in Manila Bay, high tide occurred at 11:55 AM (1.11 meters), and low tide is expected at 8:52 PM (-0.17 meters). Sunrise was at 5:32 AM, and sunset will be at 6:14 PM. The moonrise is at 10:12 PM, and moonset was at 8:41 AM, with 80% illumination.
