The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is bringing rain to southern Mindanao, while the rest of the Philippines should prepare for potential thunderstorms, according to the latest forecast from PAGASA, issued at 4:00 AM on May 19, 2026, and valid until 4:00 AM tomorrow.

National Weather Overview

Across the Philippines, PAGASA forecasts a mix of weather conditions. Southern Mindanao will experience the most significant impact from the ITCZ, while other regions face the possibility of localized thunderstorms. Residents are advised to stay informed and take precautions against potential hazards.

Regional Forecasts

Luzon

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. PAGASA advises residents to be aware of localized thunderstorms that could bring sudden heavy downpours and potential flash floods or landslides.

Visayas

The Visayas region is forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. As with Luzon, be prepared for the possibility of severe thunderstorms and their associated risks.

Mindanao

The ITCZ is directly impacting Mindanao, particularly the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental. These areas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. PAGASA warns of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.

Wind and Coastal Conditions

According to PAGASA, wind conditions will vary across the country. Extreme Northern Luzon will experience moderate winds blowing from the northeast to east, creating moderate coastal waters with wave heights between 1.2 to 2.1 meters. The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate winds from the northeast, resulting in slight to moderate coastal waters with wave heights between 0.6 to 1.8 meters. Across the rest of the Philippines, expect light to moderate winds blowing from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 1.2 meters).

Temperature and Humidity

Yesterday, the PAGASA weather station in Science Garden, Diliman Quezon City, recorded a maximum temperature of 34.0°C at 3:00 PM and a minimum temperature of 25.9°C at 5:00 AM. The relative humidity ranged from 88% to 54%.

Tidal Information for Manila Bay

NAMRIA data indicates the following tidal predictions for Manila Bay:

  • Today: High tide at 10:54 AM (1.42 meters), low tide at 7:43 PM (-0.37 meters)

Safety Reminders

PAGASA reminds the public to take the following precautions:

  • Stay informed about the latest weather updates from PAGASA.
  • Monitor your surroundings for signs of potential flash floods or landslides, especially if you live in or near mountainous areas or waterways.
  • If a thunderstorm is approaching, seek shelter indoors. Avoid being outside during heavy rain and lightning.
  • Be aware of potential hazards when traveling, such as slippery roads and reduced visibility.
