Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Donald M. Gumiran attended Australia's premier Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition — known as Land Forces 2026 — at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Western Australia, connecting with military leaders and defense professionals from around the world, according to the Office of the International Military Affairs of the Philippine Army (OIMA, PA).

The three-day exposition ran from October 6 to 8, 2026, bringing together defense, industry, government, academic, and technology leaders from Australia and allied nations to advance national and regional security cooperation.

Lt. Gen. Gumiran Among International Military Delegates

Lt. Gen. Gumiran's participation placed the Philippine Army among the international counterparts engaged in the biannual exposition, which serves as a platform for defense networking, exhibitions, exclusive conferences, speaker series, and innovation programs, the OIMA, PA said in a statement.

Land Forces is a biannual event, meaning it convenes every two years, making each edition a significant opportunity for participating nations to strengthen bilateral and multilateral defense relationships.

Philippine Army's Role as Regional Security Partner

The Philippine Army, in its statement, described its participation as consistent with its goal of establishing itself "as a reliable international partner and catalyst with allied and like-minded nations in advancing regional security and peace."

The Army further noted that as a "world-class organization," its pursuit of "constant adaptation and progress" is a primary institutional objective — underscoring the strategic intent behind its senior leadership's engagement in international defense forums such as Land Forces 2026.

By the Numbers

Why This Matters

The Philippine Army's representation at Land Forces 2026 at the commanding general level signals the country's active engagement in international defense diplomacy with Australia and other allied nations. Participation in a forum that links defense, industry, government, academia, and technology leaders strengthens the Philippines' standing in regional security frameworks. The event also serves as a venue for the Army to benchmark against global defense innovations and foster partnerships that support national security objectives.
