The Philippines can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the possibility of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, according to the latest forecast from PAGASA, issued at 4:00 AM today and valid until 4:00 AM tomorrow. These conditions are attributed to localized thunderstorms that could develop throughout the day.

Regional Weather Forecast

Luzon

Across Luzon, residents can anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies. There is a chance of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon and evening. The ridge of a High Pressure Area (HPA) is extending over Northern and Central Luzon, contributing to generally fair weather conditions but also the potential for localized thunderstorms.

Visayas

The Visayas region is also expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Be prepared for potential heavy downpours in specific areas, which could lead to localized flooding. As with Luzon, these conditions are mainly due to localized thunderstorms.

Mindanao

Mindanao will see similar weather patterns, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and the chance of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Residents should monitor for updates, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

PAGASA reports that Luzon will experience light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast. Coastal waters are expected to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.8 meters.

For the rest of the Philippines, including the Visayas and Mindanao, light to moderate winds are expected from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will also be slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.4 and 1.8 meters.

Temperature and Humidity

Yesterday, the maximum temperature recorded at the PAGASA Weather Station in Science Garden, Diliman, Quezon City, was 34.7°C at 2:00 PM. The minimum temperature was 20.1°C at 6:00 AM. The relative humidity ranged from a maximum of 78% to a minimum of 43%.

Tropical Cyclone Information

As of 3:00 AM today, Tropical Storm Sinlaku (2604) is located 2,725 km east of Northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). It has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. The storm is moving westward at 10 km/h and does not directly affect the Philippines at this time.

Safety Measures During Thunderstorms

With the forecast indicating potential thunderstorms across the Philippines, it's important to take necessary precautions:

  • Stay Indoors: Seek shelter inside a sturdy building if a thunderstorm approaches.
  • Avoid Water: Do not swim or take a bath during a thunderstorm.
  • Unplug Electronics: Disconnect appliances and electronic devices to prevent damage from lightning strikes.
  • Monitor Updates: Stay informed about the latest weather updates from PAGASA.
  • Prepare for Flash Floods: Be aware of flood-prone areas and have an evacuation plan in place.
  • Landslide Awareness: If living in a mountainous area, be vigilant for signs of landslides and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

According to NAMRIA, the tidal predictions for Manila Bay are as follows:
