Philippine security forces arrested two foreign nationals from Tajikistan during a joint counterterrorism operation in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur on April 17, 2026, according to the Philippine National Police Public Information Office.
The operation, conducted from 2:35 PM to 4:20 PM in Barangay Lomidong, involved multiple law enforcement agencies implementing a Bureau of Immigration mission order against undesirable aliens. Both suspects are 22-year-old males who were apprehended inside their rented accommodation.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. ordered the implementation of the mission that led to the successful arrest of the foreign nationals, who are now under Bureau of Immigration custody for documentation and proper disposition.

The 103rd Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army, provided military support to ensure the operation's success in the strategically sensitive Marawi area.
