Five Chinese nationals were arrested for alleged violations of Philippine immigration laws during a Bureau of Immigration-led operation at a company compound in Trento, Agusan del Sur on Monday, August 3, the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry (Agila) Division announced the following day.
The operation was conducted at the Mayokada Enterprise Compound in Purok 4, Barangay Pulang Lupa, with the Army's 67th Infantry Battalion (67IB) providing security and operational support under its Law Enforcement Support Operations mandate, according to a press release from the division's public affairs office dated August 4.
Misrepresentation, Fraud, and Overstaying Alleged
The five foreign nationals face alleged immigration-related violations involving misrepresentation, fraud, and other offenses under Philippine immigration laws, the Army said. All five are now in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration for investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.
Booking photographs released by the 10th Infantry Division show the five men, born between 1968 and 1981, each identified as a Chinese national facing alleged violations of Sections 37(a)(7) and 45 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended. At least one of the booking boards additionally notes overstaying and lack of documentation.
67th Infantry Battalion Provided Ground Support
The Bureau of Immigration led the operation, with the Philippine Army, intelligence and security agencies, and local government partners providing coordinated support. The 67IB said it maintained close coordination with all concerned agencies to ensure the operation's orderly and safe conduct.
The 10th Infantry Division reaffirmed its commitment to supporting partner law enforcement agencies in lawful operations against individuals whose activities threaten public order, national security, and the integrity of the country's immigration system.

Major General Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, underscored the significance of inter-agency collaboration in enforcing immigration law and protecting national security.
"The Philippine Army remains steadfast in supporting legitimate law enforcement operations that protect our national security and uphold the rule of law. This successful inter-agency effort demonstrates the government's unified commitment to ensuring that all foreign nationals in the country comply with Philippine laws while safeguarding the welfare and security of our communities," Luzon said.
Part of a Wider Mindanao Immigration Crackdown
The Trento arrests are the latest in a series of immigration enforcement actions across Mindanao. In October 2025, the Bureau of Immigration arrested four Chinese nationals in Agusan del Sur for misrepresentation and working without valid visas in connection with illegal mining — the bureau's third batch of foreign illegal miners apprehended within weeks, according to the Philippine News Agency.
In June 2026, ten foreign nationals — including two Chinese found overstaying with existing blacklist records — were arrested in intelligence-driven operations across Siargao Island, according to reports from Inquirer.net and the Mindanao Sentinel.
Penalties Under Philippine Immigration Law
Under the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended, foreign nationals found to have violated Sections 37(a)(7) and 45 — which cover misrepresentation, fraud, and related offenses — face deportation proceedings and possible permanent exclusion from re-entering the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration has stated in previous enforcement actions.
