Government forces recovered war materiel following a 15-minute firefight with New People's Army (NPA) members in Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday, March 24, military officials reported.
Troops from the 68th Infantry (Kaagapay) Battalion, 1st Infantry (Always First) Battalion, and 5th Scout Ranger Battalion encountered the rebel group during focused military operations at Sitio Danlog, Barangay Monteclaro in San Jose town, according to reports from the 203rd Infantry (Bantay Kapayapaan) Brigade.
The encounter resulted in the recovery of significant military equipment, including one M653 rifle, one short magazine loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition, a rifle scope, and a backpack containing personal belongings of the fleeing rebels.
